Comets hit FT in fourth

NASELLE ---- After struggling with their free throws in the first half, the Naselle Comets were money at the line in the fourth quarter as they held off Tacoma Baptist 53-48 in a Pacific 2B League girls basketball game on Friday.Naselle (11-7, 8-4 league) made 8-of-11 freebies in the fourth quarter, including 7-8 from Brandi Keightley."We couldn't hit our free throws to save ourselves in the first half," Naselle coach Bob Torppa said. "We've struggled from the line in the past, but our strong free throw shooting at the end of the game enabled us to win."Keightley led the Comets with 14 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists. Erin Saari had 12 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals, Ashley Ahlstrom and Colette Beaulaurier grabbed six rebounds each, Cheryl Steppe added five and Haley Landis and Kellyn Pakenen chipped in four each.Naselle visits Northwest Christian on Tuesday.
